Richard (Rick) Johnson of Spanaway, Wash., went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Winlock, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 15, 1953, in South Bend, Wash. The son of Arlie and Hazel (Briles) Johnson and was the middle child of three sons.

He graduated from Raymond High School in 1971. He worked for Weyerhaeuser for 2 years before joining the carpenters union local 470 in Tacoma. After he retired he enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his parents Arlie and Hazel Johnson of Raymond; a brother Ron (Ronda) of Doty, Wash.; daughter Heidi (Larry) Hammond of Winlock, Wash.; son Scott of Spanaway; grandchildren Jared, Hannah, Dyson and Damon Hammond, Sienna, Scotty Jr., Serenity Johnson of Spanaway. He is preceded in death by a younger brother Timm Johnson of Olympia.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Lebam Community Church. All who would like to remember Richard are welcome to attend. A potluck will follow.
