Roark Neal Cahoon, resident of Hoquiam, passed away in his home on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018. He was 75. Roark was born in Los Angeles, Calif. to Gene and Marion (Neal) Cahoon on Aug. 29, 1942.
He married his life’s love, Linda Joyce (Barber) Cahoon, on Oct. 27, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Over his lifetime, he also lived in Idaho, Nevada, and California. He took great pride in his Irish heritage.
Roark is survived by his daughters Jaynie L. Cahoon of Copalis Beach and Mae E. Crider of Hoquiam; brother Tim Neal Cahoon; grandchildren Katrina M. Cahoon, Chris N. Cahoon, Kayla M. Crider, and Mitch E. Crider; and great-grandchildren Randy W. Gunter, Mikyla E.L. Gunter, Nicole L. Dewald, and Aiden J. Hastings. Roark was preceded in death by his wife Linda Cahoon on July 29, 2016.
A memorial will be held in September according to Roark and Linda’s wishes during the week around the 54th anniversary of their first date on Zuma Beach, Calif. Roark and his wife’s ashes will be released at this time after, by Roark’s request, “What a ride.” is written in the sand.
