Robert (Bob) I. McPherson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at his home in Westport. He was born May 15, 1932, in Elma, to Virgil and Georgia (Gwee) McPherson. He was a graduate of Elma High School, Grays Harbor Community College and Pacific Lutheran College.
On Aug. 23, 1952, he married Diane (Johnson) and had three children; Bob, Doug &Trish.
Bob was a Naval Aviator and flight instructor. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired at the rank of Commander. He flew for United Airlines in the 60’s and 70’s but his true passion was operating boats on the Pacific Ocean. He and his brother owned and operated Ocean Charters and ran the charter boats “Macs’ Miss” and “Macs’ Effort.
On March 12, 1981, he was re-married to Marcia Maples and welcomed her daughter, Alisa into the family.
Bob was an active member of VFW Post 3057 and served as post commander.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia; sons Robert and Doug; daughters Trish and Alisa and five grandchildren.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Bob touched are invited to the VFW Post 3057, 211 E Pacific Ave, Westport, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, reminisce, support each other and celebrate his life.
