Robert Davis Wright, 74, Aberdeen resident and former Dept. of Transportation bridge tender on the Chehalis River Bridge, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam, Wash.
Robert was born on Jan. 25, 1943, in San Diego, Calif., to Mitchell Loyd and Carrie Dora (Cline) Wright. They moved to Aberdeen when he was young and he attended Aberdeen schools. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and was later Honorably Discharged. He returned to Aberdeen.
He married Patricia Reed on July 28th in 1975. She passed away on March 17, 1993, and he’s missed her ever since.
Robert worked on the Chehalis River Bridge for over 24 years, retiring in 2008. Before that he had worked for ITT Rayonier until its closing.
He was a member of the Aberdeen American Legion, 40 et 8 and the Hoquiam VFW. He loved listening to music and being a DJ for his friends. He was a proud Marine, husband, father and grandfather.
Robert is survived by his son, Jarrod Wright of Tenino, Wash.; step-son Nathan (Debbie) Christoffer and a step-daughter, Catrina Christoffer all of Olympia; a sister, Ivy Sowers of Cosmopolis and a grandson, Aiden Wright of Tenino. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Wright.
There will be a celebration potluck on March 4, at 3 p.m. in the 40 et 8 in Aberdeen.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
