Robert Frederick “Bob” Lantz, 74, lifetime Harborite and former mill worker at Grays Harbor Paper, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at his home in Aberdeen.
Bob was born on March 9, 1943, in Aberdeen to Robert L. and Virginia (Chapman) Lantz. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1961. He went to work for Hoquiam Plywood for two years and then to Grays Harbor Paper till 1996 when the mill closed. He then worked for Posey and then to Simpson Door Company in 2000. He retired in 2007.
Bob was married to Carole Pearson in 1964 and they later divorced in 1971. He then married Dorothy ‘Dot’ Welsh in 1972. They later divorced in 1980.
Bob was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles since 1985 and Teamsters Local 252 Since 1996. He will be remembered for time spent with friends and family. His hobbies of clam digging, reading history, remodeling his home and working on cars. Bob loved the Harbor and never wanted to be anywhere else.
He is survived by two daughters: Angela (Todd) Rohde of Gig Harbor, Wash. and Danielle Lantz of Hoquiam; grandchildren: Brandon (Lacie) Rohde, Kayla Rohde and Steven King; one great-granddaughter Sophia Rohde; Brothers: Richard Lantz of Aberdeen and Dr. Dan Lantz of Seattle; a sister, Gerry (John) Friberg of Everson, Wash.
There will be a private family graveside service for Bob at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, Wash. The family suggests that donations be made to Harbors Home Health and Hospice, 201 Seventh St., Hoquiam, WA 98550.
