Robert Larry Sandquist of Aberdeen passed away on April 4, 2018, at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. He was 79.
Larry was born in Walla Walla in 1938. He was adopted by John and Celia Sandquist, and was raised in Forks with his sister, Virginia. A graduate of Forks High School, he joined the Air Force and served as an engine mechanic. His interest in engines led him to open an automotive repair shop in Aberdeen. He married Mary (Wilson) Sandquist of Hoquiam in 1962. He also worked at Coast to Coast, and Moore’s Appliance, both in Aberdeen, before retirement.
Larry was a Boy Scout leader and a member of the Aberdeen Kiwanis. He was a lifetime member of the W. W. baseball team with his friends. Fishing, hunting, watching sports events, and trips to Conconully were his favorite pastimes. Larry could usually be found spending quality time with his friends and family, and helping those around him.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Sandquist of Aberdeen; his sister, Virginia Nordman of Olympia; his children: Ron (Nancy) Soderberg of Seattle, Cindie Soderberg of Aberdeen, Robert (Ammie) Sandquist Jr. of Aberdeen, and Jackie (Josh) Thomson of Twisp; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held at the home of dear friends Sid and Jan Johnson on Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen.
