Roland “Rob” Ferdinand Strote Jr. passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Rob was born on Aug. 5, 1952, to Roland Ferdinand Strote Sr. and Barbara Ilene Porter in Port Townsend, Washington. He was raised in Port Orchard, Washington, and in Hoquiam, Washington. Rob graduated in 1970 from Hoquiam High School and furthered his education at Grays Harbor College, getting his degree in Associate Arts.
Rob was enlisted in the Army National Guard from 1972 to 1978. He then went on to work for Weyerhaeuser for 38 years before he retired in 2014. Rob enjoyed being with his family, walking daily, day trips and being outdoors. He loved searching out new restaurants, some of which appeared on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents Roland Strote Sr. and Barbara Porter. He is survived by his brother David (Barb) Strote of Kennewick, Washington, Tim (Joyce) Strote of Seabeck, Washington, Jeff Strote of Shelton, Washington, Randy (Barbara) Strote of Shelton, Washington, and Marty (Kris) Strote of Lodi, California; sisters Debbie (Ken) Cummings of Cosmopolis, Washington, and Dorsie (Eric) Bradford of Stockton, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to PAWS of Grays Harbor or United Ways of Grays Harbor.
