Ronald James (Ron) Matsen passed into the arms of the Heavenly Father on Dec. 17, 2022, at his home in Pacific Beach. He was 86 years old. In his lifetime he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mark. He married Vivian Walther on June 24, 1989, at the home of Bob and Marie Bickar.

The light of his life was his blended family — his four children: Ron (Teri) Matsen, Louann Anderson, Marta (Don) Keagle and Mark (Brenda) Matsen; Vivian’s children: Chris (Ken) Smith, Robbin (Dan) Zembal, Jerry (Naomi) Walther, Rhonda (George) Sawyers and Kimberlee (Chris) Kelly, 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date in Pacific Beach.
