Ruth Ann Dillon, 73 years of age and a longtime Harborite, died on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at her Hoquiam home. She was born on Oct. 21, 1944, in Erie, Pa.
She came to the Harbor area as a young girl and had worked at the Wirta Café.
She was married to Robert Wagner Sr. in 1970 and they divorced in 1976.
In the mid 1970s she worked at the Midway Tavern.
On Aug. 21, 1982, she was married to Ernest J. Dillon in Aberdeen. They had resided in the present Hoquiam family home for the past 15 years.
She had been employed as a commercial maintenance person for J and F Cleaners since early 2002.
Her travels had taken the couple to Reno and to eastern Washington to visit relatives.
She enjoyed planting and caring for her roses, but, was very upset when the deer would come into her yard and eat these flowers. For numerous years she made the best blankets on the Harbor for her family and friends and even sold many of the blankets to her acquaintances. She liked playing video games and enjoyed her four cats. She will long be remembered for her kindness, helpfulness and taking in rescue cats.
Ruth Ann Dillon is survived by her husband, Ernest J. Dillon of the Hoquiam family home; her sons, Robert Wagner Jr. of Kelso and Kenny Kennemer of Aberdeen; her daughters, Shirley “Cheryl” Kennemer of Colorado and Audrey Blackburn of Bucoda; her sister, Betty Emery of Hoquiam; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other relatives.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Ken Middleton officiating.
