Ruth Risley, age 85, a longtime resident of Copalis Crossing, was called home to heaven, Dec. 13, 2022, in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born Ruth Marie Patterson, March 21,1937, in Aberdeen, Washington. Ruth was raised on the family dairy farm at Copalis Crossing. She attended Newton School, and was a graduate of Hoquiam High School, Class of 1955.
On July 9,1955, she and Clyde Risley were married. They made their home and raised their three sons at Copalis Crossing.
She had been a member of Copalis Beach Community Church for many years, then Immanuel Baptist Church in Hoquiam. She and Clyde loved their church and serving the Lord. They often lead home Bible studies. She loved spending time with family and friends, picking berries, fishing with Clyde, their many pets over the years, and was well known for her little wild blackberry pies.
Surviving family include two sons, Allen Risley (Rose) of Toledo, Washington and Duane Risley (Roz) of Aberdeen; daughter-in-law, Kelly Risley of Pe Ell, Washington; nieces Donna Barry of Pleasant Hill, California and Linda Barry of Pacific Beach, Washington, nephew Brian Barry of Hoquiam, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Clyde, she was preceded by their son, Gordon Risley; brother, Delbert Patterson, and a sister, Sari Barry.
A graveside service will held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1100 Soule Avenue, Hoquiam.
