Swiss-American Ruthli Frieda Kemmerer passed away on Dec. 13, 2022, at 92. Born in New York to immigrants, she spent childhood summers in Switzerland, raised a family in Mount Vernon, Washington and retired to Ocean Shores. She studied music at Oberlin and taught in Chile and Japan. Married to Walter for 59 years, mum enjoyed the outdoors, arts and animals, and helped start the Skagit County Humane Society, and 40 years later, North Beach Paws, where she continued to volunteer. Mum had abundant enthusiasm for life, was a talented soloist and tireless international traveler and loved being a mom. She leaves three children (Ed, Jan, and Lisa Kemmerer) and two beloved cats.
