Sharlyne Rae Blackwell, 78 years of age and a longtime Harborite died on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born on Dec. 8, 1937, in Moscow, Idaho to Donald J. and June Adelaide (Smith) Yockey.
She spent her early years in Idaho and the family moved to Renton, Wash. when she was a young girl and there she attended school. She later resided in the Quinault and Humptulips areas prior to moving into Hoquiam where she had since resided.
Sharlyne was married to Donald J. Blackwell in the mid 1960’s in Hoquiam. They later divorced.
She had worked as a cook and waitress at the Hub, Gamburs and the Red Rooster. For a period of time she owned and operated the Silver Dollar Tavern. Later she did in-home care for the elderly to include taking care of her mother.
Sharlyne was an avid cook and she liked spending time with her grandkids.
Sharlyne Rae Blackwell is survived by her son, James Joe Osborne (Melissa Metcalf) of Humptulips; her daughter, Vicky June Filyaw of Aberdeen; a brother, Fred Gerald Franklin (Ginger) of Hogans Corner; her sister, Sharon Delores Forbes of Froid, Mont., 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and other relatives. She was preceded in death by a son, Skeeter Osborne, a daughter, Linda Brown and a brother, Joe Henry Franklin.
There will be no formal funeral service.
