Shawn O’Dell Gannon, 51, a longtime Grays Harbor resident tragically passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Aberdeen, Washington.
Shawn was born Sept. 12, 1970, in Santa Maria, California to parents Dale Thomas Gannon and Joanne Velasco Gannon. In his younger years, Shawn and his family moved from California to Eugene, Oregon. When Shawn entered elementary school, he and his family moved to Aberdeen, Washington. Shawn graduated from JM Weatherwax in 1988 and began working in construction. He worked for Rognlin’s, Lakeside Industries and other big companies up north plus many side jobs around the community.
On Feb. 2, 1990, Shawn married his high school sweetheart Nichole Kindle. Throughout their marriage they had two beautiful daughters: Stephanie and Stacie. Shawn and Nichole later divorced.
Shawn later met Christy Asas, they fell in love and married on Nov. 27, 1996. In 2003, they welcomed their son, Shane.
In his late 20s he attended Grays Harbor College and graduated with an Associates of Criminal Justice, entered the CORE program at Stafford Creek to be a correctional officer, but he ultimately continued his love for construction, and successfully owned his construction business, SoGann’s General Contractor for many years.
Shawn loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and going clam digging. He loved to travel and had a sense of adventure. He traveled throughout the nation as well as many islands in the Philippines. Shawn had a passion for making desserts, but his sweetest creation was his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with them.
