Shirlee I. Skinner, age 79, a resident of Aberdeen, died on Feb. 17, 2022, at Harbor Regional Health Community Hospital in Aberdeen. Mrs. Skinner was born on March 2, 1942, in Whittier, North Carolina to parents, Willis and (Delsie (Mashburn) Greene. The family moved to Darrington, Washington when she was 16 years of age. They would later come to Grays Harbor in 1964.

Mrs. Skinner enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, brain teasers, walking and country drives. She loved interior design and gardening. Throughout her lifetime, she made contributions to charitable causes.

She is survived by her longtime companion, John Hansen of Elma; three sons, Johnny Messer of Cosmopolis, James Messer, of Cosmopolis, and Jerry Messer of Elma; three daughters, Vickie Kellogg of Elma, Tammy Messer of Olympia and Lisa Foster of Aberdeen; grandchildren: Sara Marsh, Marcus Messer, Danielle Messer, Phylicia Perov, Jonathon Messer, Jason Skye, Dawn Kellogg and Rebecca Clinton; great-grandchildren: Ribyl Marsh, Maverick Marsh, Corbin Messer and Charlie Messer; great -great-granddaughters, MacKenzie and Kayla Skye, as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by a grandson Nathaniel Messer.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
