Stanley Howard Baxter, age 84, and a McCleary resident, passed away on Feb. 28, 2017, at Providence St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born on Nov. 18, 1932, in Centralia, Wash. to Howard and Josephine (Gorzalaneyk) Baxter. Stanley attended school in Centralia, Wash.; later raising his children in Aberdeen and spending his retirement years in the Elma/McCleary area.
In 1957, he married Jo (Joan) Louise (Alstrom) Baxter in Aberdeen.
He joined the U.S. Army and served as a Radar operator. Later he worked in the world’s largest timber community at Hoquiam Plywood. He belonged to Oaksridge Golf Course.
Stanley was a finish carpenter and enjoyed landscaping and gardening, traveling, history buff, golf and was a car enthusiast with a great sense of humor & a contagious laugh!
Stanley is survived by his son Michael Baxter; daughters Vicki Issacson and Tracia Kilwien; three grandchildren Melinda, Carissa and Elijah and one great-grandchild Isaiah. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Joe and Ed Baxter and a sister Gloria (Baxter) Bell.
There will be a celebration of life for friends and family held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, at the Cosmopolis Lion’s Club.
