Warren D. Greenwell, resident of Discovery Bay, passed away peacefully in his home on Jan. 20, 2017, after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy (Meyer).
Warren was born in Hoquiam, Wash. and attended Hoquiam High School, Grays Harbor University and University of Washington, graduating as a Chemical Engineer in the fraternity of Zeta Psi. Warren joined the Army in 1953 during the Korean War and served as a Cryptoghraphic Specialist.
Throughout his career, Warren worked for Dow Chemical, Aerojet, and Bechtel, where he spent his final 24 years as a Bechtel executive working around the world. He spent time working and living in China, Saudi Arabia, France, and Michigan, as a Quality Control Engineer at various nuclear power plants, a job he was very proud of.
In his retired life he enjoyed golf (acting as the Tournament Director for the Concord Sr. Citizens Club), baseball and lineology.
Warren is survived by his three children Coralee Barnes (Randy Martin) of Lincoln, Kirk Maticiw (Evelyn), Texas, and Kathy Zickenberg (Craig), Discovery Bay. He was blessed with six devoted grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His generous, witty, and respectful spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
