William, “Bill” Allan Hyde, 93, peacefully passed away at home on Jan. 2, 2023, with family by his side.
Bill was born in Aberdeen, Washington on March 30, 1929, to William Basil Hyde and Louise Mina (Radam) Hyde. He lived his life in Aberdeen and referred to the Pacific Northwest as “God’s Country.” Bill was taken out of school at the age of 14 and put to work, driving a delivery truck for Hancock Fuel. This began a lifetime career of truck driving, eventually retiring after 34 years driving log trucks with Weyerhaeuser.
Bill served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, and upon his return from overseas, he married the love of his life, Winifred “Winnie” Joan Atwood on March 27, 1954. Together they had a son, Michael and a daughter, JoAnn.
Bill loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, clam digging, rockhounding on the PNW beaches, hiking, fossil digging and just being with nature. He was especially fond of his Montana and Kalaloch hunting trips. He loved to watch his grandchildren play sports. Bill was a loving husband and great father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents: William and Louise Hyde, and his three brothers and three sisters: Helen, Audrey, Byron, Noble, Maxine and Gordon.
Bill is survived by his wife, Winnie, of Aberdeen, Washington; son, Mike ( Kim) Hyde of Roosevelt, Utah; daughter, JoAnn (Lee) Weber of Cosmopolis, Washington; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, all who will always cherish the time spent with him and will continue to love and remember him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, from 1 to 6 p.m. located at the Rotary Log Pavilion, 1401 Sargent Blvd., Aberdeen, Washington. This will be a catered event, the family has asked for you to bring your appetites and stories. Arrangements have been entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
