Letter writer calls death a cover up

“Pedestrian struck and killed by bus near Ocean Shores” on Oct. 12. This article was very short. Did not give a lot of details. I was waiting for a much bigger article when more information was gathered. You know, I was puzzled when my neighbor told me that the young man was running and zigging in front of the bus, committing suicide.

I believe that there is a cover up going on.

I had a dentist appointment at 8 a.m. in Aberdeen that morning. I was just driving on state Route 115 right when the bus and approximately five cars parked to the side of the road. People were getting out of their cars. No fog, no mist, it was a clear dark night. No street lights just car lights. The car in front of me drove into the left lane that would have the incoming cars coming toward Ocean Shores, coming toward us.

I looked to the right where I could see a man with a flashlight running toward us his hand up. My first thought was that a car went in a ditch. No it was worse. I saw a small motorcycle laying on its side in the road. Then I saw the big large pool of blood and then the body. It was the motorcycle and then about seven feet away the blood and then about 10 feet away the body. His body was like the clothes were torn off of his body exposing raw flesh and broken bones. This is by far the most horrific scene.

My husband died on Sunday, Sept. 22, before this accident, at the Grays Harbor Hospital. I got tears in my eyes. Its taken a while for me to write this letter. My husband had his memorial at Tahoma National Cemetery with honors.

I am retired now but I was a quality source inspector for 17 years. I am used to being detail oriented. Aerospace.

I knew right a way that it was the bus that hit the rider of that motor bike. Hit him from behind. Didn’t see the small taillight that motorcycle would have. Hit him and ran over him dragging his body. Looked like his head was smashed, too.

Poor guy probably on his way to work this early in the morning. Was he married? Did he have a wife and kids?

The senior reporter at The Daily World could have given something nice to say about this poor man.

A lot of people had died on this stretch of road. The speed is too high. No five feet on either side of road for bike or pedestrian. Too many signs on the side of road that are a distraction.

I am old enough to remember Miss Lady Bird Johnson. This is a state highway.

The road needs more street light.

I had to take the detour to Hoquiam. I did not see the four State Patrol cars coming past me, going toward Oceans Shores, until I was almost to U.S. Highway 101.

I saw the four State Patrol cars going back toward U.S. Highway 101 and the bus being towed by a tow truck that afternoon. The bus window was smashed pretty good.

Pretty good cover up. Plenty of time to get the motorbike out of the road.

Kudos to Tokeland and Grayland post office workers

Despite staff loss and few days of temporary help, we who frequent Tokeland’s and Grayland’s post offices owe Donna and Kelly an attitude of gratitude and praise for their dedication and loyalty to our communities.

And for me, personally, their grace and patience when my memory loss with some confusion disrupts their day.

God bless these loving, gracious angels amongst us.
