Honoring nine seniors during its last home meet of the season, Aberdeen put together another strong performance as it works toward the postseason meets in November.
Winning all but two events, the Bobcats used their depth to roll past Class 3A Timberline, 135-50, in a non-league girls swimming dual meet at the YMCA of Grays Harbor.
Annika Eisele and Karli Heikkila each won two individual events for the Bobcats, with Eisele improving her state-qualifying time in the 100 butterfly in the process. The Aberdeen 200 medley relay — Kayleia Sias, Mari Rabung, Eisele and Heikkila — also improved their state-qualifying time in the event as well.
“Annika and Kayleia have already qualified for state individually, but others who have qualified for state in the past are inching their way there; I’d like to go mile-by-mile,” AHS head coach Jan Simons said. “We are getting there.”
Simons would like to cite all of the nine seniors — Katie Cournoyer, Sarah German, Kaitlyn Hammonds, Sukhmeen Jandu, Emily May, Lorena Membreno, Hannah Palmer, Mari Rabung and Bonnie Rowe — for their contributions and high level of swimming.
On Oct. 20, Aberdeen will travel to River Ridge to take on Tumwater and Black Hills in an Evergreen 2A Conference meet.
