Aberdeen High School Hall of Famer Larry Godfrey, center, passes along the Bobcat “spirit stick” he acquired to his nephews, Bobcat football players Kylan Touch (left) and Cameron Hochstetler, prior to this week’s Aberdeen-Hoquiam football game. A baton, the “spirit stick” was considered a good luck charm by Bobcat players on road trips in the late 1960s and early ’70s. Godfrey acquired his after Aberdeen completed a 10-0 season in 1970. The Bobcats and Grizzlies will square off for the 112th time in their series Friday night at Olympic Stadium.
