BOYS PREP BASKETBALL
Elma 63, Rochester 46
After a close first half, Elma pulled away in the third quarter for a 63-46 league victory over Rochester on Tuesday at Rochester High School.
The Eagles (10-5 overall, 3-2 1A Evergreen) led 28-20 at the half and put the game away with a 23-12 third quarter, highlighted by two electrifying dunks by junior forward Isaac McGaffey to delight the Elma faithful.
“Playing at Rochester always seems to be a tough task. Coach Sells is doing a great job with that group. They are rapidly improving and had a great first half,” Elma head coach Matt Ferrier said. “Incredibly proud we went on the road and won at a tough place to play. A league road win is a win, so we will take it. Excited that we were able to test some new lineups and get some kids other kids some extended minutes.”
McGaffey led Elma with 23 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three blocks.
Senior guard Traden Carter had 13 points and eight rebounds for Elma while senior point guard Theo Flores dished out a team-high seven assists in the game.
Nine different players scored for Elma, which shot 52% from the field on 22-of-42 shooting.
Elma sits in third place in the 1A Evergreen League and faces Tenino at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday at Tenino High School.

Raymond-South Bend 42, Mossyrock 41
Tanner Morris hit the go-ahead shot in the final miute to give Raymond-South Bend a 42-41 victory over Mossyrock on Tuesday at South Bend High School.
The Ravens (7-9) were led by senior guard Chris Quintana with 14 points while Chris Banker and Morris scored seven apiece for RSB.
“We had a rough night, but it was just barely enough to get the win,” RSB head coach Jon Schray said.
The Ravens host Forks in a 2B Pacific League game at 7:15 p.m. on Friday at Raymond High School.
