BOYS PREP GOLF
Elma 180, Hoquiam 213
Led by another low-round score from Robby Allen, the Elma Eagles defeated Hoquiam 180-213 on Wednesday at the Oaksridge Golf Course in Elma.
Elma’s Robby Allen earned his fourth Medalist of the Match honor of the season. Allen birdied the par-4 No. 2 hole and the par-5 seventh to record a 9-hole score of 40.
Allen was joined by teammates Trey Yeager (46), Lucas Norris (46) and T.J. Dunlap (48) to round out Elma’s team score.
“Great team effort from our boys today. The course was pretty receptive to some better scores today with the recent rain, so it was good to see them attack some of the pins,” Elma head coach Collin McMaster said. “We need to clean up a few things to drop those numbers even further, so back to work before a big week next week.”
Hoquiam was led by Skyler Dawson with a round of 48, followed by Ethan McLucas (54), Daymond Cole (55) and Danton Cole (56).
”We continue to get off to a slow start, but it’s encouraging to see how hard they fight to straighten out their round,” Hoquiam head coach Chase Taylor said. “I’m just really proud of how willing they are to compete and want to see what our potential is for a clean 9-hole round.”
Led by a low round of 44 by Alex Dryden, Elma’s junior varsity team defeated Hoquiam JV 196-234 on Wednesday.
Elma will compete at the Sibley Scramble on Monday at Alderbrook Golf Course in East Union.
Hoquiam will host Rochester at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at the Highland Golf Course in Cosmopolis.

Aberdeen 277, Black Hills 280
(Aberdeen wins on tiebreaker)
Sometimes it takes a full-team effort to pick up a victory as the Aberdeen Bobcats found out in Wednesday’s match against Black Hills.
After the top five scores of both teams were tallied, the Bobcats and Wolves were tied at 227.
Thanks to Aberdeen’s sixth golfer, Grady Ainsworth, and his score of 50, Aberdeen earned the 277-280 victory at Highland Golf Course in Cosmopolis.
Aberdeen’s Trevon Maynard (42), Spencer Hill (45), Ty Dunlap (45), William Yee (47) and Isaac McCarty (48) were the top five scorers for the Bobcats and totalled 227 points.
The Black Hills quintet of Jack Casler (40), Phoenix Flores (43), Logan Stallings (47), Ethan Badger (48) and Ezra Harris (49) also totalled 227, meaning a sixth-score tiebreaker was needed to decide the outcome.
Ainsworth’s score of 50 was three shots better than Black Hills’ Landon Echols, giving the Bobcats the narrow victory.
Aberdeen’s round was highlighted by a birdie from Maynard on hole No. 4.
