Aberdeen’s rematch against the defending state champions didn’t go as the Bobcats had hoped as we review Twin Harbors boys prep soccer games from the weekend.
BOYS PREP SOCCER
Columbia River 4, Aberdeen 0
Aberdeen had no answers for defending state-champion Columbia River in a 4-0 loss in the first round of the 2A District 4 Tournament on Saturday at Columbia River High School.
The Bobcats (8-8 overall) were on the defense for the majority of the game and kept the Rapids (17-1) off the scoreboard until a goal in the 10th minute of the game.
Columbia River scored a goal just before halftime then twice in the second half to send Aberdeen into the elimination bracket.
“We could have played better and had multiple players going out of the game with injuries, but that doesn’t take away from how strong and talented Columbia River was,” said Aberdeen head coach Larry Fleming, who commended the defense of Bobcats Angel Espinosa and Trino Villar. “(Columbia River) really showed us how to play some great soccer.”
Aberdeen plays at Hockinson in an elimination game on Tuesday (time to be determined).
