It was a busy weekend as the prep-wrestling season kicked off with multiple Twin Harbors teams in action.

Aberdeen places third at Ramrock Invitational

Aberdeen placed third overall at the Ramrock Invitational on Saturday at North Thurston High School in Olympia.

The Bobcats scored 129 points to place third behind River Ridge (197.5 points) and Olympia (176.5) and placed top among 2A-class teams.

Aberdeen’s Landon Hamblin won the 285-pound weight class with a victory over Steliacoom’s Quentin Harris at 3:54.

Bobcats Ryder Lessard (120 pounds), Adonis Hammonds (144), Michael Hatton (165) and Erick Silveira (190) each placed second overall in their respective weight classes.

Aberdeen 50, Hoquiam 24

Aberdeen won 10 of 13 matches to defeat Hoquiam 50-24 in a season-opening dual meet on Thursday at Aberdeen High School.

The Bobcats trailed 6-0 after Hoquiam’s Brayden Gonzales opened the match with a pinfall victory over Aberdeen’s Cordell Roberts in the 157-pound weight class.

But Aberdeen won the next six matches – four via pinfall – to take a 33-6 lead.

Aberdeen would close out the match when Adonis Hammonds pinned Brandon Lugo Flores at 1:30 of their 144-pound match.

Elma places first at Warrior Wrangle

The Elma Eagles placed first overall at the Warrior Wrangle tournament on Saturday in Rochester.

The Eagles got wins from Jordan Meadows (113 pounds), Xavier Espinoza (120), Rusty Johnson (157), Lucky Douvier (165) and Levi Russell (175) to score 189.5 points, well ahead of second-place Tumwater (119.5 points) and W.F. West in third (114).

Eagles wrestlers Colin Chandler (113), Luis Torres (120), Aidyn Johnson (126), Ben Totten (138) placed second with Haven Wunsch (126), Troy Rupe (138), Bryston Crawford (144), Blaize Salazar (150), Liam McManus (165) and Jonathan Henderson (175) placing fourth.

Hoquiam placed fifth out of 13 teams with 85 points.

Junior Soto (126) and Oliver Bryson (190) each won their weight class to lead the Grizzlies.

Hoquiam’s Kingston Case (150), Sebastian Matsen (157) and Brayden Gonzalez (157) each placed fourth in their respective weight classes.

Ocosta hosts home invitational

Ocosta High School hosted 14 teams at the Ocosta Invitational on Saturday in Westport.

Life Christian Academy won the tournament with 179 points followed by Rainier (146) and Foss (139.5) in second and third, respectively.

North Beach placed sixth overall with 99 points and were led by Brycen Parent (113, 2nd), Obadiah Richards (150, 2nd), Adin Wollum (215, 3rd), and Isaiah White-Frisbee (285, 2nd).

Ocosta placed seventh with 90 points and were led by Logan Rutzer (144, 2nd), Ronin Rutzer (157, 1st) and Ben Tackett (175, 3rd).

Aberdeen was fourth with 86 points and were led by Roman Tadique (120, 3rd) and William Johnson (157, 2nd), both with top-three finishes.

Raymond-South Bend got top-three performances by Conner Reyes (150, 3rd) and Lucas Swogger (175, 2nd) en route to a 10th-place finish with 61.5 points.
