Wildcats 50, Indians 47
ROCHESTER — Led by a double-double — 19 points and 15 rebounds — from Kristi Raffelson, Ocosta defeated Toledo in a District IV 2B tournament loser-out game at Rochester on Thursday.
The Wildcats (10-11) battled shot-for-shot with the Indians throughout the contest, but it was inside-outside play down the stretch, matched with clutch free throw shooting, that helped Ocosta put the game away.
“Toward the end of the game, we switched our defense up between man and zone and that made (Toledo) have to slow up and set up some different offenses,” Ocosta coach Jason Barnum said. “We did a good job getting the ball inside to Raffelson and she was getting doubled and kicking out to (Kaylee) Barnum and (Erika) Snider for some key shots in the fourth quarter.”
Kaylee Barnum scored six of her 14 points on two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. She also added eight rebounds, six assists and five steals. Snider finished with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Toledo had a shot to tie the game with 13 seconds left, but the ball clanked off and the Wildcats pulled in the rebound.
Ocosta will move on to face the loser of Saturday’s game between Adna and Ilwaco in a loser-out matchup at Montesano on Monday.

MONTESANO — A cold spell by South Bend in the third quarter allowed Onalaska to grab the lead for good and defeat the Indians in a District IV 2B loser-out contest at Bo Griffith Gym on Thursday.
Despite double-doubles from Jessica Sanchez (17 points, 17 rebounds) and Karley Reidinger (20 points, 12 rebounds), the Tribe cooled off and the Loggers heated up to go ahead late in the third quarter. Onalaska’s Kasey Hoyt, who hit four 3-pointers on the night, hit two treys to help the Loggers jump in front.
The loss ends the season for South Bend with a 9-13 record.
“We played hard, but we just came up a little bit short,” South Bend coach Gary Wilson said. “We just had one stretch where we went cold and they got hot at the same time, so it was a bad combination.”
Wilson thanked senior Alex Conner for her effort throughout the season and on Thursday.
