Four local student-athletes named to 1A All-State Football Team

Hoquiam DB Jackson Folkers named to First Team

Hoquiam’s Jackson Folkers was named to the First Team as the Associated Press announced its 1A All-State Football Team on Thursday.

Folkers, a senior defensive back, earned the First Team nod after leading the 1A Evergreen League with six interceptions on the season, four of those coming in a Myrtle Street Rivalry victory over Aberdeen. He also made 31 tackles for a Grizzlies team that finished the regular season with a perfect record and a league title.

Three additional Twin Harbors-based athletes were named to the All-State Honorable Mention list.

Elma’s Tatum Brumfeld garnered two honors, one as a running back and a second on the defensive line. Brumfeld was one of the top running backs in the 1A Evergreen League this season, rushing for 1,319 yards and 23 touchdowns this season.

Hoquiam’s Matt Brown was named as an Honorable Mention as a linebacker, where he led the Grizzlies with 101 tackles to go along with 3.5 sacks in 2018.
