1A All-State Team
After an unprecedented season that saw it reach the highest state finish in program history, the Montesano High School girls soccer team was awarded for its success.
On Monday, two of the Bulldogs’ top players — Mikayla Stanfield and Paige Lisherness — were named to the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 1A All-State girls soccer team.
Stanfield, a forward, completed her sophomore season as the 1A Evergreen League’s leading scorer with 31 goals and was named the league’s Player of the Year in early November.
Lisherness was named the league’s top defensive player for the second consecutive season. The senior defensive midfielder and field general scored seven goals and assisted on four more this past season.
Both Stanfield and Lisherness played huge roles in Montesano’s run to the 1A State semifinals for the first time in program history.
