Aberdeen 1, Chehalis 0
In a game that was defined by aggressive play from both sides, the Bobcats beat Chehails, 1-0, when a Chehalis defender got a little too aggressive with a tackle of Rigo Alavez in the box.
Alavez drew the penalty in the 50th minute, and Hulizes Chavez buried the penalty kick to score the only goal of the match.
Aberdeen head coach Larry Fleming said he liked the way his forward and midfielders possessed the ball, despite working with a smaller field and facing strong goal-keeping.
“We dominated possession most of the game but good goal-keeping them in it,” he said. “We made their keeper make a couple of real good saves in both halves, but I was a small field so it wasn’t a lot of space so it was tough to find room.
Fleming gave credit to Alavez for playing an aggressive game and Trevor Dawkins for his solid game on the backline.
Aberdeen’s junior varsity lost, 2-0.
