Grays Harbor College has announced the recent hiring of Mark Weber as women’s basketball program.
“We are so excited to have Mark begin the process of re-building our women’s basketball program,” Rider said. “His experience as a collegiate coach who demands excellence both on the court and in the classroom and will fit right into the high expectations that we maintain for Choker athletics. He has already hit the ground running and I look forward to the direction he is taking us.”
Prior to his signing with the Chokers, Weber was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Consumnes River College in Sacramento, CA and spent numerous seasons in Georgia coaching high school girls and club basketball. His connections also reach into the NBA and WNBA where he has worked extensively with former/retired professional players from those leagues.
“Coach Weber is a very sensible, no-nonsense kind-of-guy who will be a very direct and honest communicator,” Rider said. “He has a passion for the game of basketball and his journey in life has given him unique and valuable tools to overcome adversity and transfer those lessons to others.”
“I am grateful to be named the head women’s basketball coach at GHC,” Weber stated. “I look forward to creating a culture of winning on and off the court. We will have a competitive environment where we bring out the best in our players while empowering leaders who strive for greatness.”
Weber received his M.S. in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire University, in Manchester, New Hampshire and his B.S. in Exercise Science from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA.
