GHC’s Cassell starts season off with first-place tie

Chokers sophomore shoots 140 at GHC invite

Grays Harbor College golfer Tyler Cassell finished tied atop the leaderboard in the season-opening Grays Harbor College Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday at The Home Course in Dupont.

Cassell, a sophomore, completed his two-day tournament with scores of 69 and 71 to finish in a first-place tie with Bellevue’s Austin Duffy with identical scores os 140. Duffy beat Cassell in a playoff to earn the tournament’s medalist honor.

Andrew Kim also had a top 10 finish for the Chokers, tying for sixth place with a find two-day score of 110.

Grays Harbor placed third overall with a total score of 605. Bellevue took the top spot with a score of 589 followed by Skagit Valley (602).

The Chokers resume competition Sunday when they compete at the Highline Showdown on Sunday at Twin Lakes Country Club in Federal Way.
