The Bulldogs (16-6 overall) led by eight after one quarter of play and 36-18 at halftime before putting the Chinooks (12-9) away with a 24-9 third quarter.
“Good, solid effort tonight and give Kalama credit, they didn’t go away. We got off to a pretty good start and they kept finding a way to put the ball in the basket and kept closing the gap,” Monte head coach Mark Mansfield said. “In the second half, we really moved the ball well and found open people.”
Monte shot 40% from the floor on 31-of-77 shooting and was led by standout sophomore guard Tieander Olson, who dominated with a 25 point, eight rebound, seven assist and nine steal performance.
Montesano junior forward Jillie Dalan scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds while senior forward Ava Schrader had nine points, eight rebounds and seven steals for the Bulldogs.

But in a game Hoquiam head coach Chad Allan dubbed “a tale of two halves,” the Bruins (13-8) responded with an 18-5 third quarter to trim the Grizzlies’ lead to 35-30 heading into the final eight minutes of play.
Hoquiam’s defense stepped up in the fourth quarter, holding CWS to five points on two field goals to secure the victory and advance to the district semifinals.
“What a great accomplishment for these players to be so resilient in a roller coaster of a game full of good rhythm and flow, mixed with large minutes of ice-chill shooting,” Allan said. “The real pride I have on them is that they never gave up and kept working together, finding a way at the end. We keep growing in experiences.”
Gordon (14 pts., 10 rebounds) and Kennedy (13 pts., 13 reb., 3 steals) ended the night with double-doubles while senior guard Katlyn Brodhead had nine points and six steals for Hoquiam.
The Grizzlies also got a big push from sophomore spark plug Austyn Capoeman, who had an impact off the bench with eight steals, four assists and three rebounds.

In the fourth quarter, Aberdeen had no answers as the Panthers got red hot, scoring 22 points – including five 3-pointers – to hand the Cats a season-ending loss.
“They just clawed their way back. A couple of calls didn’t go our way, but you know that’s just the way it goes. They hit some shots. We missed some shots and before you knew it, it was tied going into the final frame,” Aberdeen head coach Curtis Eccles said of Washougal’s comeback. “Obviously, it was pretty emotional at the end. … The seniors are definitely going to be missed.”
Standout sophomore guard Bentley Brown had 18 points to lead Aberdeen with seniors Abby Mainio (13 points) and Alyvia Lamont (11 pts., 8 rebounds) scoring in double digits in their final game as a Bobcat.
Along with Delaney Shoemaker and Harnoor Jandu, Eccles complimented his current group of seniors.
