Led by another top finish from Tyler Cassell, the Grays Harbor College mens golf team placed third at the Suncadia Invitational on Saturday in Roslyn.
Cassell shot a 2-over 74 to place third behind North Idaho’s Jared Smith and James Swan, who placed first and second, respectively. It was Cassell’s third consecutive top-three finish after placing second at the previous week’s Highline Invitational and taking second after a playoff round at the Grays Harbor Invitational on Sept. 15.
Chokers head coach Ann Swanson noted Cassell’s work ethic as being key to his success this season.
“I am very excited for Tyler and the rest of the season. He has worked very hard and it is paying off,” she said. “Our program is modeled after D1 schools, and Tyler’s goal is to eventually play for a D1 program. We are committed to help him realize his dream.”
Grays Harbor’s Brady Hinds was the next closest Choker on the leaderboard, finishing his 18-hole round in 12th place.
“We are a young team and looking forward to a great spring season,” said Swanson, whose team has one more meet in October left on the fall schedule. “Our motto is, ‘Practice with a purpose and play with a passion.’”
