In a makeup doubleheader after being rained out over the weekend, Grays Harbor College bashed Umpqua Community College for a twin-bill sweep on Monday.

Grays Harbor smashed seven extra-base hits en route to a 12-5 win over Umpqua Community College in the first game of a double header on Monday in Olympia.
The Chokers (9-3, 2-0 NWAC West) had a huge game at the plate, scoring 12 runs on 16 hits, seven for extra bases in the battle of NWAC West Region foes.
GHC trailed 4-3 after two innings of play, but scored nine runs over the final three innings to pick the the win.
Six different Chokers recorded multiple hits in the game led by Alexis Cudaback, who went a perfect 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and two RBI.
McKenzie Breakfield also homered, belted a double and led GHC with four RBI in the game.
Kassidy Byrd allowed five runs – two earned – on five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts to pick up the win for the Chokers.

Grays Harbor College completed the doubleheader sweep over Umpqua with a 16-6 five-inning win in the nightcap on Monday in Olympia.
The Chokers’ offense stayed hot in Game 2 as the GHC bats hammered 14 hits to bring the two-game total to 30.
GHC trailed 3-0 before putting up a 6-spot in the bottom of the second inning.
The Chokers scored nine runs over the final two frames to earn the victory.
GHC’s offense recorded nine extra-base hits in the contest, led by Ciara Mennitto, Mariah Villalba and former Hoquiam standout Carron Blood. The trio, which constituted the Chokers No. 2-4 hitters in the lineup, went a combined 8 for 11 (.727) with four home runs, nine runs scored and 10 RBI.
Alexis Cudaback picked up the win for GHC, allowing four runs – two earned – on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Grays Harbor is set to face Clackamas in a twin bill scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at Clackamas College, weather permitting.
