Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s Kaelin Jurek and Raymond’s Luke Hamilton earned top honors when the Southwest Washington 2B All-Coastal Division football team was named last week. Jurek was named the league’s Offensive Most Valuable Player, while Hamilton was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Jurek has been a driving force for the Titans offense as a running back this season. The senior has rushed for 550 yards and scored 10 total touchdowns over the last three weeks.
Hamilton has anchored the Seagulls from the linebacker position to the tune of 75 solo tackles through nine games. The senior assisted on 45 tackles and accounted for seven tackles for loss. Hamilton also earned first-team honors as an offensive lineman
PWV head coach Josh Fluke was awarded the Coach of the Year Award. Fluke guided the Titans to an undefeated 5-0 league record and a 7-2 record overall.
In all, Twin Harbors athletes accounted for 24 of the 28 first-team selections by the Coastal Division coaches.
Raymond’s Kason Koski and South Bend’s A.J. Sanchez each were selected for three first-team positions. Koski was named quarterback, linebacker and kicker, while Sanchez was named running back, defensive back and all-purpose.
PWV’s Ryan Shepherd, Bradley Prestegord and Josh Prestegord, Raymond’s Jace Duckworth and North Beach’s Seth Bridge were named to positions on both sides of the ball.
North Beach’s Ben Poplin rounded out the Twin Harbor offensive selections with honors as a receiver. PWV’s Tyler Justice, defensive line, and Tyson Nissell, linebacker, as well as South Bend’s Josiah Markwell, linebacker, each earned defensive honors. Ocosta’s Matt Hart was named punter.
