Montesano’s volleyball team remained undefeated, and the Aberdeen High School boys tennis team picked up its first win of the season in Monday’s Twin Harbors prep action.
VOLLEYBALL
Montesano 3, Black Hills 1
After losing a close first set, the Montesano volleyball team rebounded to remain undefeated on the season with a 3-1 victory over Black Hills on Monday at Black Hills High School.
Monte (5-0 overall) dropped the first set, 25-22, against the 2A class Wolves, but rallied to win the next three games 25-4, 25-19 and 25-16.
The Bulldogs won the extra-play fifth set 25-11.
“The first set loss kind of lit a fire under them,” Montesano head coach Pat Pace said of his team. “The girls took control of the match in set two and never looked back.”
Senior Jessica Stanfield and sophomore McKynnlie Dalan led the Bulldogs with 14 and 10 kills, respectively.
Setter Myah Gallinger had 21 assists, Olivia Young recorded seven aces and Addie Winter had three solo blocks in the Montesano victory.
BOYS TENNIS
Aberdeen 6, Black Hills 0
Aberdeen picked up its first win of the season in impressive fashion Monday, winning all matches in a 6-0 drubbing of Black Hills at Sam Benn Park in Aberdeen.
Aberdeen’s top two singles players — Colton Faulkner and Andrew Troeh — picked up wins in their singles matches, while the pairs duos of Ashdon Swope-Kyle Miller and Foster Patterson-Daniel Garcia took their doubles matches.
Aberdeen’s No. 3 singles player Brodyn Osina and No. 3 doubles pairing of Ayden Giffin and Kevin Eng won their matches via forfeit.
The victory marked the front end of a three matches in a three-day stretch for the Bobcats, which face W.F. West on Tuesday followed by taking on the Wolves at Black Hills on Wednesday.

GIRLS SOCCER
Adna 2, Ocosta 0
For the second time this season, the Ocosta girls soccer team was on the losing end against the Adna Pirates.
Adna goals in the 10th and 71st minutes were the difference as the Wildcats fell 2-0 on Monday in Westport.
Ocosta goalkeeper Devyn Martin had nine saves in the game with “strong support on defense” from Maia Soderlund and Abriana Ness, according to Ocosta head coach Mike King.
Ocosta, which battled Adna in a 2-1 loss back on Feb. 10, didn’t have luck on its side during Monday’s loss. Martin slipped in the muddy turf on both Adna goals and the Wildcats failed to capitalize on their offensive opportunities, including a shot from Ocosta’s Natalie Carloza that rang off the crossbar in the first half.
“We came ready to play. That’s the second time we’ve played Adna tough,” Ocosta head coach Mike King said. “Hopefully, we get a third chance at district.”
FOOTBALL
Naselle 52, Ocosta 12
The Ocosta Wildcats lost 52-12 to Naselle on Saturday in Westport.
Ocosta quarterback Isaac O’Hagan scored on a 2-yard run on the first play of the second quarter.
O’Hagan then hit Juan Tello for a 70-plus yard touchdown pass with two seconds left until halftime.
On defense, Harley Figueroa and O’Hagan each had more than 10 tackles in the game, and Kyle Wardlow made an acrobatic interception in the fourth quarter.
Ocosta (0-3) honored seniors O’Hagan, Figueroa, Wardlow, Jacob Lowe Jr., Devin Godfrey and Eddie Lake on Senior Night.
