MENLO — Favored Life Christian pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Willapa Valley in a Pacific 2B League game Monday night at Tenoski Gym.
Playing rugged defense, the Vikings (8-5, 10-6) trailed by only four entering the final period. They connected on only 9-of-39 field-goal attempts.
Willapa Valley coach Colby Rogers called the game a learning experience that will help his team as it prepares for postseason play.
“Our kids played really hard,” he said. “Aside from Ilwaco, we’ve played these guys as tough as anyone in our league and I’m proud of our kids. We need to learn not to play at a higher speed but at the same level of physicality that they bring.”
Brooke Friese led the Vikings with nine points.
All three of Valley’s games this week are against first-division opponents. The Vikings host South Bend on Thursday.

TUMWATER — Aberdeen split with Tumwater and Black Hills in its final dual matches of the season Monday at Tumwater.
The Bobcats beat the T-Birds, 4-1, but fell to the Wolves by the same score.
Iliana Mercado-George led the Bobcats with a 289 series for two games. She also had the high game of 166.
Aberdeen’s opening game of 698 was its second highest total of the season. The Bobcats rolled 158 in their first Baker game to beat both their opponents.
“It was a great start today with our 698 game,” AHS coach David Bruncke said. “The second game fell short of our expectations. It was notable that we got a Baker game from Black Hills and nearly a regular game, too.”
The Bobcats will travel to Vancouver for district competition Thursday.
Aberdeen two-game series: Meghan Howell 259, Iliana Mercado-George 289, Kaitlyn Martin 251, Annabelle Micheau 209, Molly Scroggs 233.
