Montesano dropped its second straight league game with a 4-2 loss to Ilwaco on Monday in Montesano.

Forks (6-3 overall, 5-2 1A Evergreen) scored with less than a minute left in the first half and added another goal four minutes into the second half to take a 2-0 lead.

Montesano got on the board when Jiovanny Torres scored in the 59th minute, but answered with goals in the 65th and 70th minutes to put Monte down 4-1.

Montesano forward Felix Romero scored in the 76th minute to round out the scoring.

The Bulldogs (6-3, 5-3) held the advantage on the stat sheet. Of Monte’s 17 shots, 12 were on-goal while Ilwaco had just nine of its 16 shots on target.

Montesano also held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks, but it was the Bulldogs inability to make the most of its scoring chances that led to the loss, according to Bulldogs head coach Fidel Sanchez.

“It was one of those games I wish we could’ve taken advantage of our chances. We could not capitalize,” he said. “Ilwaco capitalized on their chances and that is how the game went.”

Montesano hosts Eatonville at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
