MONTESANO — Montesano put on a quick hitting clinic before heading off to district tournament play with a 10-0 defeat of Rogers of Puyallup at Jack Rottle Field on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (16-3) strung together a leadoff infield single from Samantha Stanfield, a double from Lindsay Pace and a double from Peyton Poler before Allyssa Gustafson launched a 2-run home run to cap a 4-run first inning for Montesano. The Bulldogs led throughout on their way to victory in five innings.
Stanfield struck out six and limited the Rams to just one hit.
“We played a very athletic team tonight, but Sam was lights out in the circle and she had a pretty solid defense behind her,” Montesano head coach Pat Pace said. “The offense started in the first inning and didn’t quit. They were seeing the ball very well tonight.”
Montesano begins District IV 1A tournament play against Tenino at noon today at Fort Borst Park in Centralia.
