Montesano Little League’s 10-and-under all-star softball team claimed a championship as local Little League’s competed in their respective district tournaments this past weekend.
Leading the way was Monte’s 10U team, which defeated Elma Little League 7-0 to win the the Coastal League All-Stars Championship on Saturday in Aberdeen.
Montesano was led by Kylee Butterfield, who was named Player of the Game, and Addi Williamsen, who had nine hits, nine RBI, a home run and allowed one run in five innings pitched in her four games at the tournament.
Montesano defeated South Beach 10-2 in the opener before defeating Hoquiam 11-5 and Willapa Harbor 8-3 to reach the championship game.
In Little League baseball action, Elma and Willapa Harbor’s 8-10 teams and Montesano’s 10-12 all-star team advanced after first-round victories in District 3 tournaments, but were upended in the second round and will now have to fight out of the elimination bracket this week.
