Montesano’s Zillyett, Hoquiam’s Folkers named co-MVPs as 1A Evergreen names all-league team

Bulldogs’ Osgood named top coach as Monte earns 10 honors

Montesano outfielder Teegan Zillyett and Hoquiam infielder Jackson Folkers were named co-MVPs as the 1A Evergreen League announced its all-league team for the 2019 season.

Zillyett, a senior center fielder, led Monte with a .415 average and .537 on-base percentage to help the Bulldogs win a 1A District IV title this season, Monte’s first district championship in seven years. Zillyett also had an OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) of 1.171.

As a senior shortstop hitting in the leadoff spot, Folkers helped Hoquiam to a 14-8 record and berth in the district championship game.

Hoquiam earned seven total all-league nods, three of those being First Team. In addition to Folkers’ co-MVP honor, Payton Quintanilla and Kyle Larsen were named to the league’s First Team.

Montesano head coach Mike Osgood was named Coach of the Year as Monte earned 10 total all-league awards, the most of any team.

The Bulldogs’ Evan Bates, Ben Wills, Payson Parker, Parker Plato and Aaron Lano were all named First Team.
