That was enough run support for Grizzlies junior right-hander Joey Bozich, who picked up the win with three scoreless innings pitched.

Talan Abbott pitched three innings of relief with Nico Bretz pitching a scoreless seventh to earn the save.

Bozich had two hits and two RBI while Daymond Cole also recorded two hits in the game for the Grizzlies offense.

The Hoquiam defense played error-free baseball in the game, led by Danton Cole, who Hoquiam head coach Steve Jump said played “stellar defense” from his spot in center field.

“This win was a real confidence booster,” Jump said. “Our defense was nearly flawless, and Joey, Talan and Nico combined for a Grizzly win.”

Hoquiam’s junior varsity team won 9-3 on Saturday.

Aden Hartt had an inside-the-park home run, Talan Abbott had a triple, Jaxson Howard had two hits and Cody Sauer drove in two runs in the JV win.
