Montesano swept the season series from Elma as we review a weekend full of prep baseball games on the Harbor.

Montesano 5, Elma 2

Montesano’s Kolson Hendrickson outdueled Elma’s T.J. Dunlap in the Bulldogs’ 5-2 win in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday in Elma.

Hendrickson allowed two unearned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out 11 to lead the Bulldogs (9-1 overall, 3-0 1A Evergreen) over the Eagles (3-5, 1-3).

Elma took the early lead when shortstop Jack Alexander and first baseman Brody Palmer – both on board with singles – came in to score on two separate passed balls.

Montesano cut the deficit in half when center fielder Tyson Perry singled with one out and eventually scored on a passed ball.

Monte tied the game when third baseman Carter Ames scored on a Perry sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning.

One batter later, catcher Colton Grubb drove in right fielder Dennis Churchill with a single to take a 3-2 lead.

Monte added a pair of insurance runs an inning later on a two-run single to right from Churchill.

Hendrickson made the lead stick, working around a hit batter and walk to get out of the sixth and striking out the side in the seventh to earn the complete-game victory.

Dunlap took the loss, allowing five runs – four earned – on seven hits and four walks with three strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

Montesano 6, Elma 1

Montesano completed the doubleheader and season-series sweep over Elma with a 6-1 win in the nightcap on Friday in Elma.

The Bulldogs pitching staff once again led the way as three Monte pitchers combined to allow just one earned run on five hits while walking five with two strikeouts in the game.

Montesano starter Krew Messick earned the win, allowing one hit and three walks in three scoreless innings of work.

Bulldogs relievers Brody Williamson (3 IP, R, ER, 4H, 2BB, 2K) and Tyson Perry (IP, 0R, 0H) combined to pitch four innings of relief.

Monte’s Caden Grubb gave the Bulldogs the lead with a two-run single in the top of the third inning.

Two batters later, Monte left fielder Mason Fry singled to drive in Kole Kjesbu with the Bulldogs’ third run of the third inning.

Monte added to its lead when Perry scored on a dropped third strike in the fourth and went up 6-0 when third baseman Toren Crites drove in a pair of runs with a single to right in the fifth.

Three Eagles singles loaded the bases with one out in the sixth. Outfielder Jackson Bucy drove in Palmer on a fielder’s choice ground out to make it a 6-1 game.

But Williamson got outfielder Isaac McGaffey to pop out to Kjesbu at first to end the threat.

Perry pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to secure the Bulldogs victory, their third over Elma this season.

Fry went 3 for 4 to lead Montesano, with Colton Grubb knocking two hits – including a double in the first inning – for the Bulldogs.

Three Elma pitchers combined to allow five earned runs on nine hits with five walks and four strikeouts in the loss.

Montesano plays at Tenino in a battle of two teams tied atop the 1A Evergreen League at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Elma hosts Rochester at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Raymond-South Bend 18, Morton-White Pass 3

Raymond-South Bend snapped a four-game losing streak with an 18-3 win over Morton-White Pass on Friday at South Bend High School.

The Ravens (2-7) jumped on the Timberwolves (0-9) for 12 runs in the bottom of the second on four hits, three hit batters and eight walks.

RSB took a 4-0 lead on a two-run single by pitcher Nolen Miller and a 7-0 lead when first baseman Preston Toepelt drove in a pair of runs with a single in the the 12-run second frame.

The Ravens added a run in the bottom of the third on an error and five in the fourth highlighted by RBI singles from third baseman Reed Skoubo, left fielder Lucas Somero and second baseman Tyler Tracey.

Miller earned the win, allowing a hit and a walk with eight strikeouts in three innings pitched.

Caiden Del Los Santos gave up three earned runs on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in two innings of relief.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley 9, Ocosta 5

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley earned a 9-5 non-league victory over Ocosta on Thursday in Westport.

The Titans (4-2) used three pitchers to hold the Wildcats (3-4) to four hits in the game.

PWV took the early lead when right fielder Deacon Green doubled in a run in the top of the second inning.

The Titans added two runs in the third on a Blane King RBI single and an error and a run in the fourth on a Brayden Ruddell single to score starting pitcher Dylan Andrews for a 4-0 lead.

Ocosta left fielder Bryan Ceja drew a walk with the bases loaded to get the Wildcats on the board in the bottom of the fourth, but PWV responded with four runs in the fifth – highlighted by a two-run double from second baseman Eddie Clements – to stretch the lead to 7-1.

A Liam Smaciarz fielder’s choice ground out scored Andrews to give PWV an 8-1 lead entering the bottom of the fifth.

Ocosta responded with two runs on back-to-back RBI singles from first baseman Chris Arbona and third baseman Torence Bonina to make it an 8-3 game.

Mauricio Morales singled in King for a run in the PWV sixth, followed by the Wildcats responding with two runs in the bottom half of the frame on a single by Logan White and an RBI ground out off the bat of Sevilla.

Andrews earned the win, allowing one unearned run on two walks and six strikeouts without surrendering a hit in three innings pitched.

Brody Aust (2 IP, R, ER, 2H, BB, K) and King (2 IP, 3R, 2ER, 2H, 4BB, 2K) combined to pitch four innings of relief for the Titans.

Dominick Hanson-Miranda took the loss for Ocosta, allowing four runs – three earned – on six hits and four walks with two strikeouts in four innings of work.

Naselle 7, Pe Ell-Willapa Valley 6

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley lost to Naselle 7-6 in a non-league game on Saturday in Pe Ell.

The Titans (4-3) took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run double by Liam Smaciarz followed by a run on a Comets error.

Lucas Lusk’s RBI single tied the game at 4-4 followed by Eddie Clements coming home on a Brayden Ruddell sacrifice fly for a 5-4 lead at the end of two frames.

Trailing 7-5 in the bottom of the sixth, PWV’s Liam Lennox singled with two outs to chase home Blane King to make it a 7-6 game.

But Brody Aust popped up one batter later to end the Titans rally.

PWV’s Mauricio Morales was hit by a pitch with one out in the seventh, but was thrown out at second on Eddie Clements’ fielder’s choice ground out one batter later.

Lusk then struck out to end the game.

PWV pitcher Kannyon Clements took the loss, allowing four runs – one earned – on four hits and six walks with a pair of strikeouts in four innings pitched.

Morales allowed three runs – two earned – on two hits and four walks with two strikeouts in three innings of relief.

Ellensburg 4, Aberdeen 3

Aberdeen allowed three runs in the bottom of the seventh to suffer a 4-3 defeat to Ellensburg on Saturday in Ellensburg.

The Bobcats (4-2) got on the board first with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning when right fielder Donovaan Hedgpeth scored on a wild pitch and an error followed by left fielder Gabe Matthews crossing the plate on Ellensburg’s second error of the inning.

Aberdeen added a run in the top of the sixth when Matthews scored on a line-drive single to center by Isaac McCarty.

Aberdeen starting pitcher Mason Hill pitched five scoreless innings until an error in the Bobcats infield allowed Carter Peone to score, cutting Aberdeen’s lead to 3-1.

Hill ran into more trouble in the seventh, allowing two singles sandwiched around a hit batter to load the bases with one out.

Hill then balked to allow a run followed by a single by Peone that tied the game at 3-3.

Jonathan Rominger then singled to drive in Jaxon Orejudos with the game-winning run.

The loss spoiled a solid outing by Hill, who allowed three earned runs on nine hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 6 1-3 innings pitched.

Hedgpeth had two hits, including a double, to lead Aberdeen.
