One day after losing to the Centralia Tigers in walk-off fashion, the Aberdeen Bobcats returned the favor.

Floyd “Bubba” Jones’ line-drive single with one out in the seventh inning drove home Charlie Ancich with the game-winning run as the Bobcats defeated the Tigers 5-4 on Wednesday in Aberdeen.

The Bobcats (3-1 overall, 1-1 2A Evergreen) took a 2-1 lead on an Ancich sacrifice fly and RBI double by Jones in the bottom of the fourth inning.

After Centralia (1-2, 1-1) tied the game with a run in the fifth, Aberdeen infielder Kyle Miller scored the go-ahead run on a balk call.

With the Bobcats one out away from victory, Centralia rallied to tie the game with back-to-back singles and took a 4-3 lead on a fielder’s choice.

In the bottom of the seventh, a Tigers error followed by singles from Marcus Hale and Kale Goings loaded the bases with no outs. Hale was then thrown out at home on a Kenny Dawson fielder’s choice grounder, bringing Jones to the plate with the tying and winning runs on base.

With the count 3-1, Jones lined a John Leedy pitch up the middle, scoring Ancich and Goings with the tying and winning runs, respectively, to give the Bobcats the walk-off victory.

Aberdeen pitcher Baylor Ainsworth earned the complete-game victory, allowing four earned runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Jones led the Cats offense, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, with Ancich (2-3, R, RBI) also recording a multi-hit game.

Aberdeen plays at Shelton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Aberdeen broke a scoreless tie with a five-run fifth inning to pick up a 6-3 victory over Black Hills in a 2A Evergreen League game on Wednesday in Aberdeen.

The Bobcats (3-2, 1-0 2A Evergreen) took a 2-0 lead in the fifth on an Alyssa Yakovich bases-loaded single followed by a Lilly Camp base hit to double up the lead at 4-0. After Zoe Vessey singled, Scotlyn Lecomte drove in pinch-runner Jaylyn Milton with a fielder’s choice ground out for a 5-0 lead.

Aberdeen tacked on an insurance run on Yakovich’s second RBI single of the ballgame in the sixth inning.

Black Hills (1-2, 0-1) broke through for three runs in the seventh with four base hits off Camp in the frame.

But the Aberdeen sophomore right-hander got Jalaila West to line out, ending the game.

Camp allowed three earned runs on five hits with five walks and 13 strikeouts in the game.

Yakovich went 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Cats offense.

Aberdeen hosts Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley dropped the first game of a double header 4-3 to Forks on Wednesday in Forks.

PWV (4-2) scored two in the first on a Payton Peterson double and a Grace Huber fielder’s choice ground ball.

The Titans took a 3-0 lead on a Sophia Milanowski RBI single in the top of the fourth.

Forks rallied for two in the fifth, one in the sixth and walked-off on the Titans with an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s offense exploded for eight runs over the first two innings en route to a 10-8 win over Forks in the nightcap.

Lauren Matlock, Jillian Hodel, Payton Peterson, Karli Phelps and Sophia Milanowski each had three hits for a Titans team that had 20 hits in the game.

PWV belted seven extra-base hits in the game, led by Peterson with two triples.

Lauren Emery picked up the win, allowing two runs – none earned – on foru hits while striking out four in five innings pitched.

The Titans play at 2A Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Ocosta sophomore pitcher Jessie Gilbert didn’t quite top her record-breaking performance in her last outing, but she was dazzling nonetheless in Ocosta’s 4-0 win over Onalaska on Wednesday in Westport.

Gilbert shut out Onalaska on one hit and four walks while striking out 15 just one start after setting school and state records with 22 strikeouts on March 16.

Gilbert drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the fourth and Ocosta catcher Noel Cuzdey provided some insurance with a three-run, bases-clearing triple in the sixth.

Cuzdey led the Wildcats (2-0) with two hits and provided the only extra-base hit of the game as Gilbert and Loggers starter Lisa Liddell were locked in a pitcher’s duel.

Ocosta plays at Raymond-South Bend at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Raymond-South Bend lost to Toledo 12-10 on Wednesday in Toledo.

RSB (3-1) was led by Ava Pine (2-3, HR) and Kassie Koski (2-3, 2 RBI) in the back-and-forth contest that saw the Ravens trail 9-2 after three innings and rally to score eight runs over the final three innings.

“Overall, it was a good day with some good competition,” RSB head coach Dakota Brooks said. “We learned a lot and know what we need to work on. … The girls showed some fight and that was a tough thing to do, so it was nice to see.”

RSB will play Rainier at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 in Rainier.
