GIRLS PREP BASKETBALL

Montesano 43, Mossyrock 30

Montesano won for the third time in its past four games with a 43-30 victory over Mossyrock on Monday at Mossyrock High School.

The Bulldogs (4-3 overall) overcame a 5-0 deficit and 26 turnovers to earn the victory, thanks in large part to big games from junior forward Jillie Dalan and sophomore point guard Tieander Olson.

A Monte run early in the third quarter extended the Bulldogs lead to as much as 10 points before the Vikings (5-3) clawed their way back. But Monte hit key shots over the final eight minutes of the game to pull away with the victory.

“It was a very physical game,” Monte head coach Mark Mansfield said. “Our girls responded. They played tough and hit the shots when they needed to.”

Olson was one assist away from a triple-double, scoring 17 points – including five 3-pointers – grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out nine assists.

“Olson played a really nice game tonight,” Mansfield said. “It was a good win on the road.”
