GIRLS PREP SOCCER
Aberdeen 6, Hoquiam 0
Aberdeen defeated an ever-increasingly depleted Hoquiam squad 6-0 on Saturday at Olympic Stadium in Hoquiam.
The Bobcats (4-4 overall) scored three goals in each half – led by a hat trick from senior Zoe Troeh and four assists from twin sister Annie Troeh – to earn the non-league victory.
Zoe Troeh scored off a long pass from Lila Ericksen to open the scoring in the 23rd minute and followed that up 12 minutes later with a goal off an assist from Annie Troeh.
Senior defender Esmerelda Vega headed in a corner kick from Annie Troeh just before the half for a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Zoe Troeh completed the hat trick by finishing off a cross from Miley Anderson just 30 seconds in.
Zoe Troeh then swapped her spot at midfield and replaced senior Jaylynn Phimmasone in goal for the remainder of the game.
Phimmasone picked up where Zoe Troeh left off, scoring two goals – both off assists from Annie Troeh – to complete the scoring.
“The girls won the ball well and put some excellent crosses into the box,” Aberdeen head coach Larry Fleming said.
Aberdeen outshot Hoquiam 23-3.
The game started 11-on-11, but was whittled down to 9-on-9 by the end as Hoquiam (1-6) dealt with injuries.

Centralia 1, Montesano 0
Montesano dominated the game, but not the scoreboard in suffering a 1-0 upset to Centralia on Saturday at Jack Rottle Field in Montesano.
The Bulldogs (5-2-2) dominated possession and shot on goal throughout the contest, but struggled to get a goal past Centralia keeper Braylee Blankenship, who made six saves to earn a clean sheet.
Monte’s best chance to score came in the first half when Sam Roundtree sent a cross to Adda Potts, who one-timed a shot on net, but Blankenship was perfectly positioned to make the save at the near post.
Blankenship made three crucial saves late in the second half – including a leaping save of a shot headed toward the top corner – to keep the Tigers (6-2) on top.
“She was very effective with what she was doing for her team,” Montesano head coach Fidel Sanchez said. “She caught everything we normally put away.”
The Tigers scored on a free kick from Olivia Gruginski in the first half and played in a defensive shell throughout the game to shut the Bulldogs out.
“It was just a day where we could not put the ball in the net,” Sanchez said. “We had chance after chance and give credit to Centralia. They defended with every player possible and they got away with a win. Hats off to them. They’ve been gritty all year. … We just could not find the backside of the net.”
