GIRLS PREP SWIMMING

Aberdeen 122, Mark Morris 54

Aberdeen’s depth proved to be too much for visiting Mark Morris in a 122-54 Bobcats victory on Monday at the YMCA of Grays Harbor in Hoquiam.

“This was a great start for the first of two meets this week,” Aberdeen head coach Anne Eisele said. “There were several big-time drops, and more swimmers qualified for the district meet. It is always great to swim against Mark Morris. It has a great group of girls and it is fun to compete with them.”

Eisele cited the time drops of distance swimmers Isabelle Melville, who had a 15 second drop in the 200-yard freestyle (2:33.33); Wendy Neil, who shaved 11 seconds off her 500 freestyle time (6:58.95) and Asha Martin, who dropped two seconds off her 200 freestyle time (2:23.33) and six seconds off her 500 free time (7:34.69).

Neil won the 500 freestyle and Melville touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle.

Mija Hood won the 100 butterfly (1:07.80) and the 100 backstroke (1:08.66) while Aberdeen swept the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.
