Aberdeen 5, W.F. West 0
Lilly Camp’s dominant senior season continued on Monday as the Aberdeen ace shut down W.F. West to lead the Bobcats to a 5-0 win in Chehalis.
Aberdeen (8-0, 3-0 2A Evergreen) stayed a half-game ahead of Tumwater in the race for the 2A Evergreen League crown thanks to some timely hitting and another outstanding performance from Camp in the circle.
The Bobcats took an early led when third baseman Britten Neal doubled with one out and eventually came in to score on an error in the top of the first inning.
Aberdeen added to its lead with three straight singles capped by a Riley Hendrickson RBI base knock to take a 2-0 advantage in the fourth.
Aberdeen right fielder Scotlyn Lecomte singled to lead off the fifth, stole second and advanced to third on a Neal groundout.
Catcher and leading hitter Aylssa Yakovich followed with a productive out, plating Lecomte with the Cats’ third run with a sacrifice fly to left field.
The Bobcats gave Camp even more insurance with three straight singles to lead off the seventh followed by Yakovich getting plunked by a Taylor Tobin pitch to force in a run.
Two batters later, Aberdeen first baseman Maysinn Jones drove in Lecomte with a groundout for a 5-0 lead.
One start after pitching a seven-inning no-hitter against Black Hills, Camp remained in lock-down form, striking out 18 Bearcats with just one walk and allowing a lone infield single by Gracie Elam in the bottom of the sixth inning.
At one point of the game, Camp retired 12 straight Bearcats, a streak that ended when Kenley Fragner reached on a dropped third strike in the fifth inning. Camp then struck out Allie Smitherman to record a rare four-strikeout inning.
The hard-throwing right-hander’s performance drew praise from W.F. West head coach Kevin Zylstra.
“Camp was just on,” Zylstra told the Centralia Daily Chronicle. “Holy smokes. I told the girls ‘That’s what it’s like to play D1 softball right there.’”
Lecomte, Neal and Jones had two hits apiece while Yakovich led the Cats with two RBI.

PREP TENNIS
Aberdeen 3, Black Hills 3
(Aberdeen wins on tiebreaker 45-43)
Aberdeen earned its first win of the season by a slim margin over Black Hills on Monday in Tumwater.
The Bobcats swept all three singles matches paced by a 6-0, 6-0 sweep from standout sophomore Sophie Knutson.
Black Hills won all three doubles matches, leading to a 3-3 tie.
The Bobcats won via the tiebreaker of overall games played, which favored Aberdeen 45-43.
“It was great to get a league win under our belt after the long break between matches,” Aberdeen head coach Ashley Kohlmeier said. “I am especially impressed with the consistency of our singles players. Sophie Knutson hasn’t dropped a set all season and, in looking back to last year, still hasn’t lost a regular season match up. Sophomore Kensie Ervin was down early in the first set and came back to clinch a tie breaker. She dialed in during Set 2 and played especially clean tennis. Madi Ritter always has her feet moving on court and that movement won her lots of points today.”
Aberdeen takes on Tumwater at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Aberdeen.
Singles: Sophie Knutson (Aberdeen) defeated Chrystina Gorski (Black Hills) 6-0, 6-0. Maddi Ritter (A) def. Ava Knight (BH) 6-0, 6-1. Kensie Ervin (A) def. Zofia Yantis (BH) 7-6 (7-5), 6-0.
