Aberdeen swimmers won seven events in a 101-74 loss against 3A Kelso on Tuesday in Kelso.

The Bobcats were led by senior Tyler Bates, who won the 50-yard freestyle (24.00) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.08), and sophomore Zeke Olson, who took first in both the 100 breaststroke (1:13.74) and the 1-meter dive (146.55).

Bobcats junior Jacob Hallack won the 500 freestyle (5:57.28) while two Aberdeen relay teams were victorious on Tuesday.

The 200 medley-relay team of Bates, Olson, Hallack and Denny Linker won with a time of 1:54.51. The same foursome combined to place first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.66.

“Kelso is a strong Class 3A squad and it had the numbers on us. We had a great day in the water, dropping times and competing to the very end,” Aberdeen head coach Rob Burns said. “Tyler Bates, Jacob Hallack and Denny Linker are getting faster every day. Zeke is really growing on the diving board. The whole team is growing, too. Long evening, but a great meet.”

Burns cited Cole Nylander for his swims at the end of the meet and Austin Weiss for his diving and backstroke performances.

Aberdeen hosts Mark Morris at the YMCA of Grays Harbor at 4 p.m. Friday.
