Montesano takes top spot at Ocosta Invitational
Montesano went undefeated in pool play then beat Northwest Christian to win the Ocosta Invitational on Saturday in Westport.
The Bulldogs went 7-0 in pool play and faced Northwest Christian in the best 2-out-of-3 Gold Bracket Final. Monte won 25-20 and 25-21 to take home the team title.
Host Ocosta placed third while Aberdeen took fourth place.
Forks faced North Beach in the consolation bracket final, with the Spartans winning 25-23 and 25-18.

GIRLS PREP SOCCER
Montesano 3, East Jefferson 0
Montesano scored three second-half goals in a 3-0 win over East Jefferson on Saturday at Chimacum High School.
After a scoreless first half that saw Montesano (9-2-2 overall) take three shots and six corner kicks, the Bulldogs scored early in the second half when midfielder Bethanie Henderson scored in the 43rd minute.
Henderson scored her second goal of the game just six minutes later as Monte took a 2-0 lead against the Rivals (2-9-1).
Montesano’s Sam Roundtree put the game away with a goal in the 51st minute.
The Bulldogs had 10 shots in the game, six on target, and took eight corner kicks.
Bulldogs goal keeper Riley Timmons made two saves in the game to record the shutout.
Montesano resumes 1A Evergreen League play against Eatonville at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Eatonville High School.
