Ocosta’s girls soccer team and Elma’s volleyball program suffered losses on Monday as we review your Twin Harbors prep sports.

Kalama 7, Ocosta 0

Like many teams before it, Ocosta struggled against league-leading Kalama in a 7-0 loss on Monday in Kalama.

The Wildcats (7-5 overall, 3-3 2B Central-Pacific) allowed a penalty-kick goal – its first of the season – in the 8th minute followed by a goal off a deflection six minutes later.

The Chinooks (9-0-2, 6-0) – the No. 4 team in the WIAA 2B/1B RPI rankings – added a goal off a line-drive shot from 15-yards out to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Kalama added goals in the 43rd and 49th minutes followed by netting two more on high, long shots in the 67th and 71st minutes.

Ocosta goal keeper Amelia Sanders finished the game with 12 saves while teammates Kylee Denny and Scarlett Nelson were commended by head coach Mike King for their overall play.

With the loss, the Wildcats sit alone in fifth place in the 11-team 2B Central-Pacific League, 1.5 games behind Onalaska and a game up on Raymond-South Bend.

Ocosta hosts Adna at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

PREP VOLLEYBALL

Northwest Christian 3, Elma 0

The Elma Eagles had a case of the Mondays in a straight-set loss to Northwest Christian in a non-league matchup on Monday in Lacey.

Elma (2-9) narrowly lost the first game 25-23 followed by 25-17 and 25-15 losses in games two and three, respectively.

“We had a hard time finding our energy tonight and Northwest Christian played well and their fans were loud, making it a tough gym to play in,” Elma head coach Kendra Dunn said.

Elma was led by Callie Galligan with five kills and Jenessa Sackrider, who had two kills and three blocks in the contest.

The Eagles will resume league play against Hoquiam at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Elma High School.
